History

In 2000, the Kinsley family opened the doors at the Kinsley Education Center (KEC) with the first Carpentry Apprentice Class. Over the years, the KEC has expanded its role in many directions — not only helping Kinsley Construction remain competitive as a leader in the construction industry, but also providing learning opportunities for community members as well.

We recruit our students through word-of-mouth and guidance counselors. We also use many local agencies, such as the Crispus Attucks Center for Employment, as resources.

We started our first year with 10 students and we have increased that number steadily. We are committed to encouraging diversity and equality. Our overall diversity make up is 12.5%; our goal is 25%.

There are now 51 students in our program, ranging from 18 to 52 years of age.
